Confidence is critical when it comes to being successful in business. As humans, most of us have many, many fears, and those fears can take over our lives, and steal our confidence if not kept in check. It’s critical to recognize your own fears and to consciously work towards overcoming them, if you want to gain confidence and be successful.
Below are a few of our top fears as women entrepreneurs.
- Fear of “Not Good-Enough”
- Fear of Not Worthy
- Fear of being Criticized and Judged
- Fear of Rejection
- Fear of Not being Perfect
- Fear of Criticism
- Fear of Failure
- Fear of Success
Do you know something is stopping you from attaining everything you want in your life, but aren’t sure what or how to change it?
How many opportunities have you missed because you didn’t feel READY?
Do you live in fear of not being “good-enough” or worthy, and not asking for what you want?
Do you feel defeated and frustrated because no matter how hard you work, you are seeing little to no results?
If you answered YES to these questions, you are probably lacking confidence in one or more areas of your life.
Most of us have never been taught how to have confidence.
Schools do not offer “How to Be Super Confident 101,” and many life experiences steal our confidence, rather than build it.
True confidence is a deep inner knowing that you are worthy and amazing, it’s unending self-love and the ability to shine without worrying about what someone else will think. It’s certainty in who you are, the value that you bring and what you stand for.
True Confidence draws people to you like a magnet.
Here’s what I know. . .
A lack of confidence will keep you small, hidden and will not help you in creating your deepest desires.
A lack of confidence tells the world you are not worthy of being paid big money.
A lack of confidence attracts the wrong people to you, in business, friendships, and your love life, resulting in even lower confidence.
A lack of confidence keeps you stuck in the same old life, wondering if you will ever have the life and business you yearn for.
When you’re confident in who you are and what you do, you will have clients magnetized to you regularly and paying you the big money you deserve.
How would you like to show up at a networking event and walk away with prospects, and even clients?
How would you like to have a community surrounding you that cheers, uplifts and supports one another?
How would you like to have the freedom to take vacations and spend more time with loved ones?
How would you like to have more time for YOU to rest, relax, and rejuvenate?
You have a MISSION to help other entrepreneurs be successful, which means you need to be confident in yourself and your abilities in order to fulfill that mission.
Many people get so caught up in learning all about sales, and marketing, and social media, and all the things you need to know to create a successful business, which is really important, especially as virtual assistants, but if you don’t feel confident and worthy, none of that knowledge will make any difference. You need to have a balance between the DOING and BEING in order to truly thrive.
You hold yourself back because the voice in your head (I call it a gremlin) says you are not “good enough” or worthy of success as you are. This voice stops us immediately, killing our confidence, hindering our success and income.
It’s so important to do the inner work to get to the place of feeling worthy in order to live your dreams of making an impact with your life and business. Until you get to the point where you have a deep inner knowing that you have so much value to give, your negative inner voice will keep you spinning your wheels and you’ll not get to where you want to be.
Our limiting thoughts come up as we start to step out of our comfort zone, to play bigger. They are not trying to hurt us, on the contrary, they are attempting to protect us and keep us safe. The unknown can be scary, and our gremlins are there to keep us small, and unseen, safe from the harshness of the world.
Awareness is Key
Until you are aware of your mind trash and its messages, it will continue to hold you back, keep your confidence low, and stop you from reaching for the vision of your life. Becoming aware and recognizing these harmful thoughts takes away their control and lessens its power over us.
4 Steps to Turn Limiting Beliefs into Empowering Beliefs
- Identify the limiting belief – what exactly is the belief holding you back?
- How does each belief limit you? Does it stop you from getting clients? Finding love? Marketing yourself?
- Decide how you want to be, feel, and act instead.
- Create a turnaround statement that gives you permission to be, feel and act this new way. Repeat your statement multiple times per day for 30 days.
Current belief: I’m not valuable enough to charge higher rates for my services.
Turnaround Statement: I am confident in my abilities. I am highly valuable, I make a huge difference for my clients, and I am deserving of making great money.
It is critical that you realize YOU are in charge of your thoughts and you get to choose whether to listen and agree with them or not. Just because you have the thought, doesn’t mean it’s true. These harmful thoughts can creep in when you least expect them, and you might not even notice they’re there, stopping you from dreaming up your best life and impactful business.
By asking yourself these questions, you will begin to unpeel the layers of beliefs holding you back. With each layer, you will become more confident as a woman and entrepreneur, taking you closer to your vision for your life and your business.
