It’s so important today to use PR effectively to grow your virtual assistant (VA) business. You so know you need to do it, but many just don’t want to or have the time to do it. We are here to help. PR can be fun and when done regularly, can bring awesome results. These tips will help you grow and promote your virtual assistant business.
Don’t Stop Believing (I mean marketing)
One of the biggest mistakes I see is those that market, land a client, stop marketing, lose a client, market again, wait for a client. It just doesn’t work. (So stop doing it!) You have to be out there even with a full client base. Keep in mind you never know if your next potential client is actively checking you out to see if they want to work with you and if you disappear, they lose interest and might go elsewhere. When you think about it, when the need comes up, who do you think those clients want to work with? Someone you haven’t seen around for a while or that person that has continually been providing awesome tips showing they are the expert. That’s right.
Create a marketing plan
We won’t go into a great deal of detail here, but just know you need to have a plan of action. That helps you avoid the Monday morning blues of “What will I do this week? I’ve got nothing!” Now we aren’t talking a 20 page marketing novel, but more a few pages of specific marketing ideas that you can update and create weekly to do’s for. When you write it down, you make it happen. So do it!
Write articles frequently on your niche so others see what an expert you are. Now one of the reasons I am such a supporter of article marketing isn’t just that you have an article that you can send out. No, it’s because all the other good stuff you can do with that article. It’s one of the easiest ways to get new content for your blog, newsletter, social media, and so forth. So by taking the action of writing an article, you get all this other good marketing magic too. Plus, you become an expert by writing on topics you already know about. So get into the habit of writing quality articles regularly.
WAIT, you said PR, what is this paid advertising? Yes, PR and marketing can include paid ads. Go ahead and boost or promote some of those higher ranking (more viewed) posts on Facebook. Also, promote some of those that talk about your services or those that ask them to sign up for your newsletter. It’s worth the few bucks you spend. Also, consider a facebook ad. Here too you set the budget and it can bring in clients. But one cool thing is that you are in front of your audience on a more regular basis. That’s what you want, that recognition of who you are, what you do, and why they need you!
Host a teleseminar. Truly I believe this is one of the coolest ways to really show your stuff. So many think it’s only for those BIG successful businesses, but it’s not. You can host a teleseminar or webinar on the topics that you are an expert at and get the opportunity to personally connect with your potential clients. Also, for virtual assistants it’s a great way to show other Virtual Assistant companies (yes, those that might refer you to others or hire you as a subcontractor) that this is what you do and you do it well. Go for it!
See how easy it is to get PR for your business. Now take these steps (and do it now) and don’t forget the most important part, rinse and repeat for true success.
